COLEACP at the European Development Days 2017: let’s hear from young people!

Agriculture must become a driver for the development of African youth. Producing food is a rewarding job and the responsibility for this work should be awarded to well-qualified individuals. In line with this approach, COLEACP has worked for many years building the capacity of all the stakeholders in the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) involved in food production.

The modernisation of agriculture and of agribusiness within ACP countries cannot be achieved without creating a new generation of qualified personnel at all levels, comprising well trained individuals who are enthusiastic about their work.

So, how can young people from these regions be supported to reach their full potential? How can agriculture be made attractive to young people? How can businesses be provided with employees with the right profiles?

These are the issues that Coleacp is keen to put forward at the forthcoming European Development Days (EDD) to be held on June 7 and 8 in Brussels. It will highlight these issues primarily by giving a voice to young people.

Khadija from Senegal, Carolin from Kenya and Calvin from Cameroon will describe their experiences, projects, successes and frustrations, notably at a workshop to take place during the event https://eudevdays.eu/sessions/how-make-agriculture-attractive-youth.

COLEACP shall be present at the EDD with a stand in the development village (Stand No. B 73). This will provide a platform, in conjunction with the ACP YPN (ACP Young Professionals Network), for young people to have their say for the entire duration of the event and way beyond.
